To delve into the history, Armadora Pereira was founded by José Pereira Álvarez, who began his work in the fishing industry in the mid-20th century.
The origins of the company date back several decades, to when the family’s first fishing vessels operated primarily in the North Atlantic, specifically in the area known as Gran Sol.
In its second phase, the company experienced significant growth, moving to mid-sized vessels with the innovative introduction of onboard freezing, which greatly improved product preservation and quality. These ships mainly operated in the fishing grounds off the coasts of Morocco and Mauritania.
The third phase saw a complete renewal of the fleet, with vessels being modernised to meet the demands of new fisheries and fishing areas. Advanced technologies, particularly electronic and computer systems, were introduced to the fishing process to better meet the needs of the markets. Alongside this, a commercial division was established, including a network of direct sales shops and distribution centres, as well as facilities for the processing and transformation of fish products.
Today, the fleet has expanded and sails across global seas, but the company maintains the same spirit of dedication, with a guiding philosophy that prioritises respect for the sea.
