This hot smoked paprika comes from fresh handpicked long red peppers naturally grown in the ‘La Vera’, a traditional pepper growing region in Extremadura,southwest of Spain. The traditional method to preserve the peppers is still used nowadays, the process can take up to 15 days and consists of dehydrating the peppers over the heat of an oak-wood fire, which infuses them with wood pipe notes. Then the dry peppers are ground using traditional stone mills to keep their temperature low and to help retain their natural flavours, resulting in an intensely smoky flavour with a very gentle hint of heat. Used for stews, romesco sauces, home-cured chorizo sausages and marinades. Our Pimenton de La Vera has D.O.P. status (Protected Denomination of Origin).
